Serenade

Let me start by saying that this is probably one of the best memories that I own. So it happened while in Venice during a ride on a water taxi as we headed back to our hotel. It was in the evening and apparently a popular time to travel because the whole taxi was packed, so we just found spots to stand where ever they were available. I happen to find a spot near an older Italian man( and maybe at that point I should have known that this spot was wide open for a reason.) Any who so the nice old man begins to sing in Italian and of course, I thought this was great. So standing so close to him I turn and smile and maybe mutter 'motto bene'( I may be embellishing here). Then the nice old man asks "Americana?", "si" I answer. I don't know what gave it away? I like to think it was the GGPV and the fact that I wasn't wearing a single thing that matched that day, as you can clearly see (again not prepared for the cold and threw on everything that I owned. Might I add that this was the same trip that the GGPV went sleeveless). Then the nice old man says 'oh I know an America song', uh 'va bene' I say and so he sings. I thought when he started to sing that I might know the song, but as his continued to belt out his vocals, I really had no idea what song it was. "you like" he says "si!". Ah!
